Hypnosis And Addictive Behaviors? In hypnotherapy, we approach addictions in two ways: with hypnosis to break the belief that there is a need to continue the addiction, and coaching to plan for changes to cement a new life without the addiction. Most chemical addictions will require strong coaching support to help you overcome the brief period of bodily adjustment, but the support of hypnosis is designed to make that process easy. Breaking a habitual addiction is often the more challenging process. Fortunately, if you have the “want” to change, you already have enough “will” to change. With hypnosis, we activate that “want” to let the body release the old, unhelpful pattern of harmful addiction. When the body truly believes there is a way to exist without the unhelpful pattern, it drop it. Think about if you learned a new driving route to get to somewhere you go frequently. If the new route saves you 10 minutes, you’ll never go back to the old, slow way of getting there. All your body needs is the belife a new way is possible, and the support of a hypnotist to help the body understand the new way. Does Hypnosis Work To Stop Smoking? While eveyone’s experience will be different, hypnosis is incredibly effective in stoping a smoking habit. Smoking creates both a chemical addiction and a habitual addiction as it weaves its way into your daily cycles. The good news is tobacco’s chemical addiction is quickly released after a few days - an easy hurdle that will be completely supported by your hypnotist/coach. In our session, we will use hypnosis to help you manifest your desire to no longer smoke - ending the habitual addiction. If you want to quit smoking, you already heave enough “will” to quit. Unfortunately, most folks with the “will” just don’t have a good strategy to find a behavior to replace their smoking. In hypnosis, we unlock new possibilities for the body to deal with its smoking desire. When the body has a plan that feels better aligned with what the body wants - it does not go back to its “worse plan”. We use hypnosis to unlock and then let the body feel the “better plan”. Some clients even have trouble remembering what it felt like to want a cigarette after our sessions.
